Leading Questions...

How long should promotion last?
Since this is an online and ongoing conference do we promote it well after the conference to continue the learning by participants that might partake after the conference is "over"?

  • Create video tutorials about use of presentations in PD
  • Promote via Twitter - recent interesting blog posts about K12 Online
  • Target Teacher Centers/Staff Development departments
  • Continued emails to mainstream media outlets

How do we convey the concept of an ongoing conference?
Perhaps we could ask a few people who attended last year's event to record a short (10-30 second) video testimonial about what they got out of it, send all those clips to a central place to be edited (I'm happy to do that) and we can turn it into a promo video piece to put on YouTube (3-5 minutes). This URL could then be circulated throughout the blogosphere, so it can be embedded it into lots of blogs... Of course, this is just reaching those people who read blogs already.... but we could send a link to the video directly to schools perhaps? I have a database of every school in Australia on my computer. (CB)

Online Promotion

    • Add conference info to wikis where appropriate (Need we say that, spamming would be unacceptable?)

I'm including a summary of the conference below.
The ³K12 Online Conference² is for teachers, administrators, librarians, and
educators around the world interested in the use of Web 2.0 tools in
classrooms and professional practice! The 2007 conference is scheduled
to be held over two weeks, October 15-19 and October 22-26 of 2007,
and will include a preconference keynote during the week of October 8.
The conference takes place entirely online, and includes Keynote
speakers David Warlick and Clarence Fisher, and four learning
strands. Even after the conference, all presentations will be available online.
